3 National Statistics of coal mine blasting accidents

accidents caused by illegal blasting mainly fall into three categories: ① coal dust explosion accidents caused by blasting, ② gas explosion accidents caused by blasting, gas and coal seam outburst accidents, and ③ casualty accidents caused by blasting itself

3.1 gas accidents caused by blasting

from 1981 to 2004, 7985 accidents with more than 3 deaths occurred in coal mines across the country, with a death toll of 52871, including 5120 gas accidents, accounting for 65.24% of the total number of accidents, and 37907 deaths caused by gas accidents, accounting for 71.7% of the total number of deaths

due to the progress of Electromechanical Technology in recent years, the gas explosion accidents caused by electric sparks show a decreasing trend, and blasting, another important fire source in coal mine gas explosion accidents, is highlighted. Taking Shanxi Province as an example, this paper only counts the gas accidents that killed more than 10 people in Shanxi coal mines from 2003 to 2006. Four major gas explosion accidents occurred in 2003, all caused by other reasons; In 2004, there were 7 major gas explosion accidents, in which the gas explosion of liangjiahe coal mine and Honghuagou coal mine, which killed 36 people, was caused by illegal blasting, accounting for 28.57%; In 2005, there were 6 major gas explosion accidents, of which 72 people died in Xishui coal mine and 36 people died in jiajiabao coal mine. The gas explosion was caused by illegal blasting, accounting for 33.33%; So far in 2006, there have been four major gas explosion accidents, among which the gas explosion accidents in targou coal mine, where 11 people were killed, and Nanshan coal mine, where 34 people were killed, were caused by blasting, accounting for 50%

it can be seen that in recent years, the proportion of gas accidents caused by blasting has shown an upward trend. The leader of the State Administration of work safety once said painfully that gas is the killer in coal mine production. And illegal shooting is one of the main inducing factors in these accidents
